Helping Our Local Schools

On February 7th, Stonewall-Jasper Lodge#6 voted to give $200.00 to the second graders at Dunston Elementary School in North Charleston. Dunston Elementary is one of the area’s schools serving underprivileged inner city children.

While the state and federal government mandates that the students go on at least 3 field trips per year, this is an unfunded mandate. The teachers and students must raise money for the bus transportation, food and other expenses.

According to second grade teacher, Victoria Mallam, daughter of Brother Rich Mallam, the students at Dunston often have little or no money for these required field trips.

The money donated by the Lodge will be used to help fund one of these trips.

Anyone who would like to join the Lodge effort may send the money to Stonewall-Jasper Lodge #6, PO Box 30332, St Andrews’s Branch, Charleston SC 29407. Please note Dunston School Fund on check.

Walk For Autism

The Lodge has supported this charity in the past with financial donations.

Grand Secretary Matthew Amerson, at the end of 2007,  matched the total donated by the Lodge to Walk For Autism, thereby doubling the Lodge donation at the 2008 Installation Banquet! The total with Brother Amerson's donation given to Walk For Autism in 2007 was $900.00!!! Sinbad Temple #96 donated an additional $50.00 from three members!

Individual lodge and temple members also supported the event. Walk for Autism is one of the charitable organizations that we have supported in 2006 and 2007 and continue to support in 2008. Our Past Chancellor Commander Matthew Amerson is strongly involved in the organization and has spearheaded both the Temple and Lodge support of Walk for Autism!

At the last meeting in December 2007, Stonewall-Jasper Lodge #6 donated numerous toys for the children of the workers at the Veterans Victory House Nursing Center. Also at the last meeting the Lodge donated $200.00 to the Masonic Service Association, which will be used to provide needed personal items to the veterans at the Veterans Hospital. In addition $300.00 was donated by the lodge to Walk for Autism and $200.00 to My sisters House, a home for battered women in Charleston!
